Flying from St. Ignace
Great Lakes Air operates an air taxi service to and from the island by appointment, so it's best to call ahead and make a reservation. Walk-up flights are sometimes available, however at busy times there can be a long wait. They fly six seat Piper Cherokee Sixes and they're a great bunch of guys, but it's safer to make an advanced reservation.

Follow the directions to St. Ignace. When taking US 2 through town, keep driving past the harbor and boat docks, past the Holiday Inn Express. The airport is on the north side of town and the left side of the road. Turn onto Airport Road and drive up to the hangar. Park your car in the line, find your way into the main entrance and ask for a flight to the island.

Once you're on the island, you can call a taxi from the airport. If you arrive after (or before) hours, there is a free phone to the taxi service. Give them a call and wait for the clip-clop of the two "horsepower" taxi.

Commercial Flights to Pellston and Great Lakes Air to Mackinac Island
This is by far the easiest and quickest method of arriving on Mackinac Island. Fly on a commercial airline to Pellston, then take the Great Lakes Air taxi from Pellston to Mackinac Island. Northwest Airlink and United Express offer commuter flights from Detroit and Chicago, respectively. Northwest, United Airlines, or your travel agent can make reservations for you.
